SUMMARY:Aretē Track & Field Club (K-7)
DESCRIPTION:Aretē – the pursuit of excellence in body\, mind\, and soul.  \nTrack and field has its roots in the athletic culture of ancient Greece and Rome\, where physical training was considered an essential part of education and a full life. Athletic contests served the multitudes as entertainment\, people gathered from far and wide. Above entertainment value\, these contests reflected a society that valued discipline\, excellence\, and the development of the body and mind. \nGreek society believed physical excellence reflected deeper moral excellence\, an idea captured in Aretē . Athletic training took place in institutions called the Gymnasium\, where young men developed both physically and intellectually as part of their education. \nClub will be held outside after school on Wednesdays\, 4:00-5:00\, starting on April 7 and will be available for all students\, K-7. \nThe goal of this club is for students to have an introductory level understanding of the sport that is Track & Field.   \nParticipants will: \n\nLearn the basics of all events (sprints\, distance\, relays\, jumps\, and throws).\nPractice fundamental movements essential for the events.\nCompete against each other as they develop their movements.\n\nIt will be led by Mr. Allen and Mr. Haidamous.

Haidamous.
